Last year’s event was a tremendous success. The concept of Sip ‘n Saunter is simple: Downtown retailers host a food and/or beverage provider with tastings for ticketholders as they saunter around Downtown San Luis Obispo businesses. Here’s what you need to know:
GENERAL EVENT INFORMATION:• Friday September 27, 2018 from 5-8:30 PM• There is a $25 application fee for retailers • There are 550 tickets available. $45 for Early Bird Special go on sale August 1st- 14th, $55 for General Admission go on sale August 15th• Each retail location will be paired with one restaurant or one beverage provider (wine, cider, beer, as well as one non-alcoholic offering). It is the responsibility of the participating vendors to communicate their respective needs!• Attendees will check-in prior to the event at the Downtown SLO office at 1135 Chorro Street to receive a map, wristband, and glass to carry with them throughout the evening
WHAT DOWNTOWN SLO PROVIDES:• Maps• Ticketing• ID checking• ABC Licensing for participating retail location• Wine glasses for each attendee• Two (2) “No Alcohol Beyond This Point” signs for your establishment’s front door• Two (2) wristbands and glasses to each food vendor, beverage vendor, and retailer • Marketing for your establishment, including radio advertisements, flyers, and social media• Sip N' Saunter balloons to signify your establishment’s participation
WHAT YOU PROVIDE:• Signature tastings (small sample size) from your establishment• Utensils, plates, napkins, and table decorations• Any promotional signage or materials representing your establishment• Trash receptacle and dump bucket• Two servers at your assigned retail location to create a comfortable atmostphere and maintain a high quality of service to guests throughout the event.• Retailers will need a door monitor to ensure that all alcohol stays within their business.• Vendors should be prepared to provided tastes for a maximum of 550 guests. A final head count will be provided prior to the event.
ATTENDEE CHECK-IN AND ENTRY:• Guests will be checking in between 4:45-6 PM at the Downtown SLO office• All guests receive a wine glass, wristband, and map of all participating venues• IDs will be checked to ensure 21+• Retailers, your shop can and should remain open to the public throughout the evening. However, vendors are only allowed to serve tastings to guests with color-coded wristbands.
SET-UP AND TEAR DOWN:• Food and beverage vendors should coordinate set-up & break-down needs with their retail partner• Retailers should also coordinate availability of water and/or other non-alcoholic beverages with their beverage partner• Tasting will take place from 5–8:30 PM. Be prepared and ready to go! • Break-down is not permitted before 8:30 PM.
AND FINALLY:• Decorate your space to correspond with the NEW Sip N' Saunter theme• Offer special deals to attendees so they return to your shop after the event• Provide adequate product samples and apportion them to last throughout the evening • Have fun!
