The Downtown Georgetown BIA (DGBIA) is looking for some committed, enthusiastic and responsible volunteers to join our team for the upcoming 2025 Downtown Events.
Please fill in the application below to be considered for this position. The DGBIA Events Team will be selecting volunteers on a rolling basis, from April 2025 onwards. Ensure you read through the roles and responsibilities, along with the mandatory dates before submitting the application. All volunteers joining our team will receive training, along with opportunities for growth and positive connections in the community. No experience required!
Volunteers must be minimum 14 years old. We will happily record volunteer hours for high school community service and other opportunities.
MANDATORY DATES 2025
Volunteers MUST attend a Mandatory Training Orientation, in early May (Dates TBD).
Volunteers MUST attend at least 10 if not more of the Georgetown Farmers Market Dates:
- May 31st to October 18th, 2025 from 6:00am to 9:45am OR 9:45 to 1:30pm OR Full Day
Volunteers MUST attend both of our
upcoming Summer Events:
- Friday, July 11th 3:00pm to 10:00pm Downtown Palooza
- Friday, August 22nd, 3:00pm to 10:00pm Classics Car Show
Volunteers MUST attend 1 of 2 of the Fall/Winter Events:
- Saturday October 25th, Hours TBD Masquerade on Main & Mill
- Saturday November 22nd, Hours TBD Holiday Market
Roles and Responsibilities:
DGBIA Event Volunteers will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Set-up and Take Down of Event Materials: Assisting staff with tents, tables, barricades and road closures. Some heavy lifting may be required. Assisting Farmers Market Vendors and other Event Staff with their equipment set-up and take-down as needed.
- Supervise Barricades and Road Closure: Keeping watch of barricades at road closures to ensure only appropriate vendor vehicles and local residents are entering the event area. Instructing other drivers how to get around the event, or how to find parking.
- Special Event Activity Facilitation: Some events may have special event activities, often for children, wherein volunteers will be expected to supervise the activity and equipment. This may include watching for safe play, cleaning equipment or replenishing supplies, creating line-ups for activities and communicating with children and families instructions on the activity.
- Customer Service Representation at Events: Assist farmers market patrons and event attendees on wayfinding, answering questions about the event, hand out advertising materials for the DGBIA events, and other communications as needed.
- Additional Tasks as Assigned.
