Midco Scholars Application
The Midco Scholars Program is a partnership between Midcontinent Communications (Midco) and Augsburg University which provides opportunities for underrepresented students to explore a career in business/IT and gain relevant work experience.

Midco’s been blazing trails since 1931, bringing innovation to the world of telecommunications and delighting customers with exceptional service. Through ambition, imagination and a genuine commitment to each other, Midco proudly serves more than 385,000 residential and business customers in 342 communities in Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. We’re also dedicated to making our communities better places to live, work and play. (See www.midco.com for more information).

In Spring 2018, up to 4 students will be selected for the honor of becoming the first cohort of Midco Scholars. Each Scholar will have a $2,500 scholarship applied to their student account and will also be given the opportunity to apply for a competitive full-time Summer 2018 internship with Midco either in their Sioux Falls, SD or Edina, MN offices. (Internships will more likely take place in Sioux Falls, so applicants should be available to live in Sioux Falls for the summer - housing is available. Internship offers are contingent upon the following: a) receipt of proof of eligibility to work in the United States, b) successful completion of background check).

Selected Scholars will be expected to engage in monthly professional development workshops and individual coaching sessions on campus during spring semester 2018. A full schedule of events will be provided to the Scholars upon selection.

Ideal candidates for the Midco Scholars program will:

-Be a Junior in good standing at Augsburg (anticipated graduation in Dec 2018 or May 2019)
-Have a major or minor in MIS, Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Data Analytics or other business related fields
-Be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of a summer internship and provide documents to verify work authorization

Underrepresented students, including students of color, low-income (Pell Grant eligible/Dream Grant eligible), and/or first generation college students are highly encouraged to apply.

Students participating in other employer sponsored pipeline programs (Travelers EDGE and MSP TechHire) are not eligible for this opportunity.

Please complete the application below in order to be considered for the Midco Scholars Program. Applications will be reviewed by Midco and semifinalists will be asked to interview on campus.
