Volunteer Needs for SAFCC
Under each volunteer opportunity, there is a brief description of what is involved. The first step in volunteering for us is to attend one of our free TNR Classes to see what we’re all about!

Once submitted, we will contact you regarding your area(s) of interest. Thank you for your interest and support!

Helpline
Return calls left on our message machine and help people with questions about outside cat situations. Return calls at your convenience during your assigned time-frame. Cell phone provided if needed. Reports are done using a simple excel spreadsheet. Training provided. Attending a SAFCC TNR workshop is required for this volunteer position. Non-working or retired people are best for this position.
Community Outreach
If you have been a teacher or are someone who does not mind getting up in front of a group to talk, we need additional people to teach our TNR Classes and to talk to HOA groups, etc. Training provided. We also need people to help at our classes to sign people in and enter them into a log during class. Training provided. Attending a SAFCC TNR workshop is required for this volunteer position.
Petco workers
What could be better than playing with cats and kittens every week? Workers are needed to feed and play with the kittys in our Petco stores. And yes, scooping & cleaning is necessary too! : } Locations are: DeZavala Petco & Austin Highway Petco.
Fosters
You provide the love and we provide everything else! We will get their shots, tests, and surgeries. When they are ready for “show time”, we need you to drop them off and pick them up from our adoption events.
Trappers
We have a paid Trapper Team now and need experienced trappers - especially on the south side. Trappers are paid $20 / cat which includes trapping, transport to and from clinic, recovery and return. If the cat has complications, you will need to seek appropriate care - paid for by SAFCC. You must be a veteran trapper for this job.
Backyard homes
We have a constant need to relocate cats that are in danger where they are to other safe areas. If you are able to take in and provide food/shelter for these cats by adding them to your backyard or property, SAFCC will provide cages for the 2-week minimum transition period, along with advice and assistance.
Colony Feeders Needed
We are seeing more and more older colony feeders unable to continue to care for and feed their colonies. These cats are used to being fed once or twice a day and are fixed. We are recruiting people willing to feed colonies in their local area. The number of cats varies. SAFCC can possibly help with food - depending on our resources and food donations.
