The West Bank Business Association is leading twenty weeks of community arts programming that centers neighborhood youth in the Cedar Riverside area every Thursday evening from 3:30pm to 6:30pm beginning in June and weekly through October 19, 2023.
We are looking to hire teaching artists, health and wellness practitioners, culture and tradition bearers, performance artists and musicians to feature in our series.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the entire series is booked and we will reach out to applicants in a timely manner.
Feel free to select more than one area of interest if you feel you are qualified. Preference will be given to those who have a clear connection to the community in the Cedar Riverside area as well as those who identify as representing communities of color.
Helpful information:
Each paid opportunity will be one hour in length (not including set up and tear down) and offers a $100 stipend. Limited A/V equipment, electrical access, and art materials + supplies may be provided upon request.
For each event the schedule is as follows:
3:30-4:30pm Health and Wellness Activity ($100 stipend)
4:30-5:30pm Art Activity/Workshop ($100 stipend plus $/resources for materials)
5:30-6:30pm Live Performance or Youth Open Mic ($100 for a solo act, $150 for a duo)
All events take place outdoors and will be staffed by WBBA with an on site program manager and public health nurse, an A/V and equipment tech, as well as professional trauma informed youth outreach workers through our partnership with StreetWorks Outreach. Food and refreshments will be provided for community as well as other special weekly give-aways.
Health and Wellness Practitioners: We are looking for community members to lead activities that promote health and wellness such as yoga, meditation, stretching, etc. This can also include education about topics related to health and wellness including nutrition, self care, all creative ideas are welcome!
Teaching Artists: Also referred to as artist-educators or community artists, we are looking for individuals who wish to engage community by offering workshops that welcome participants to try a new creative skill or activity. Each workshop will be one hour in length from 4:30pm to 5:30pm for each of our Thursday arts events.
Culture and Tradition Bearers: We are looking for community members who engage in artistic or cultural practice to pass on traditional knowledge and offer cultural resources to their communities. Some examples include healers, storytellers, dancers, makers, drummers, and more.
Performers: We are looking for live performance artists primarily to perform music but we are open to other genres. Something to note, we have limited A/V equipment and cannot accompany a full band. We have two mics and stands and two small amps with limited electrical access. A/V specs will be sent to those who are selected.

August 3, 10, 17, 20, 31 (FYI: August 20th is a Saturday where we will host programming during Open Streets)
September 7, 14, 21, 28 (All of September programming will shift to a large scale community project)
