We welcome you to Oriane Déchery's sharing session on 29 Oct (Sat), where she will delve into her research on bricks as the subject of her historical, social and visual investigation. She will explore her observations, encounters, readings and visits, giving you a glimpse to certain social and political histories in the development of this city. During her residency, she focuses on the stories of four sites –all built with bricks made by the former Alexandra Brickworks– particularly the former National Library, St James Power Station, buildings across the Tiong Bahru district and a small abandoned house on a public land in Alexandra Road. Oriane also hopes to share her ideas for future works, and how this study on bricks will eventually feed into her creative processes.
