The Department of Nuclear Engineering offers a minor that is open to all students who are not majoring in NE and who have completed the necessary prerequisites for the minor requirements. The Faculty Advisor is Professor Raluca Scarlat. See Academic Guide for more details.

Deadline

The end of the 7th week of courses, in the semester before you plan to graduate. Most colleges require you to declare your major at the beginning of your last semester.

Requirements

The NE Minor is open to any undergraduate who has:

• Declared a major (not NE) on the UC Berkeley campus
• A GPA of at least 3.0 at the time of applying
• Completion of the minor must not delay graduation

Prerequisites (must have earned a passing grade in all of the following)

• Physics 7C or (5C + 5CL)
• Math 54 or Physics 89
• Chemistry 1A or MATSCI 45 or ENGIN 40

Graduation Requirements

To be given credit for the NE minor, undergraduates must:

• Fulfill all course requirements
• Take upper-division NE courses for a letter grade
• Maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 in the required upper division NE courses
