The Economic and Social Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) Division for Sustainable Development (DSD), will organize a civil society capacity building workshop in Santiago, Chile on 4 May 2015, in the margins of the First Meeting of the Negotiating Committee on Principle 10. The purpose of the session will be to bring together civil society representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean and inform them on the Post-2015 development agenda negotiations, how they can engage in the related processes, and the work to be done on engaging with the HLPF in the follow up and review process related to the implementation of said agenda. It will also provide an opportunity to build capacity of civil society actors in the region, providing not only information about ongoing intergovernmental processes, but also tools and guidance toward enhanced engagement of civil society in these processes.
Please note that the workshop and the Principle 10 meeting are both open for participation of civil society. Further information on how to engage will follow shortly.
To facilitate participation in this capacity building session, DSD and ECLAC have limited funding for a select number of participants from the Latin American and Caribbean region to attend the workshop. Thus, through an open and transparent call for nominations, you are invited to complete the following nomination form for consideration for funding. Decisions on funded participants will be made in collaboration between ECLAC and DESA DSD while ensuring regional, gender and constituency balance of funded participants. The deadline for submitting nominations is Sunday April 12 at 11:59 p.m. (EST).
We look forward to your active engagement in both the workshop and Principle 10 Meeting. Should you have any questions, please contact Ms. Lotta Tahtinen, Major Groups Programme Coordinator at DESA DSD at
tahtinen@un.org.
Sincerely,
DESA DSD and ECLAC
