Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion Bias Impact Report

Simmons University (“University”) seeks to provide a welcoming and inclusive campus where all members of our community – students, faculty and staff – feel safe, respected, and valued. Bias, microaggressions, and prejudice have no place at our University; and our commitments to ensuring an inclusive, welcoming campus require us to establish a process by which aggrieved members of the University can report potential incidents of bias, microaggressions, and prejudice.

Under the commitment to Inclusive Excellence, the University’s Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (the “ODEI”) will support those who have been affected by bias, microaggressions, or prejudice; work with the department/ program leadership to investigate reported incidents and identify appropriate outcome(s); identify learning opportunities for University faculty, staff and students, in small groups, in a particular College or unit, or at the University generally.

When reporting allegations of discrimination through this form, please also note the following:
• Your confidentiality and trust is very important to us. We will make every effort to respect your privacy. Please be aware, however, in certain circumstances involving safety or criminal action, we may not be able to guarantee complete anonymity. Regardless of the situations, matters are always handled discretely and in conformity with University privacy policies, and information about individuals or situations will only be shared with individuals with a legitimate need to know. The University also has strong anti-retaliation policies that protect individuals who report incidents or participate in an investigation.

When a Bias Impact Report is submitted, the reporting party will be contacted and informed about support resources available to them at the university. If the reported behavior appears to be a violation of university policy and/or the law, the reporting party will be informed about additional ways the incident may be addressed.
