Ridge Trail Scholarship Program Application
Purpose  
Our scholarship program is a commitment by the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council to create opportunities and ensure our events reflect the beautiful diversity of the place we call home. Whether you’re Black, Indigenous, a person of color, a person with a disability, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, or have financial need: you belong in nature.

Scholarships will cover registration fees and provide additional support options, such as gear assistance or mentorship, to ensure a positive experience during the event. This program is designed to remove financial barriers that might exist and foster a culture of belonging once a recipient attends the event.

Qualifications
  1. Financial need: you have limited income and cannot participate in outdoor activities or take vacations without facing financial burdens. AND/OR
  2. You self-identify as one or more of the following: Black, Indigenous, Person of Color, LGBTQIA+, a person with a disability 
Scholarship Offerings

East Bay Hills | Weds, Aug 27 - Mon, Sep 1, 2025 

This collaborative benefit is a reminder that adventure is never too far away. The Ridge Trail Council, in partnership with Volunteers of Outdoor California and the Metropolitan Horseman’s Association, supports hikers and equestrians on a fully-supported, multi-day camping trek through three iconic East Bay Regional Parks: Tilden Regional Park, Joaquin Miller Park, and Anthony Chabot Regional Park.

Blue Oak Ranch Overnight | Sat, Nov 15 - Sun Nov 16, 2025 

The Bay Area Ridge Trail Council hosts an annual overnight camping experience for our community. Participants hike to their campsite along trails that are part of or connected to the Bay Area Ridge Trail. A gear shuttle is available for convenience, but those who prefer a full backpacking experience are welcome to carry their own gear.

Day 1: Hikers gather at Joseph D. Grant County Park, and hike to Blue Oak Ranch for lunch and additional afternoon hiking within the ranch.

Day 2: Hikers have breakfast and hike back to their cars at Joseph D. Grant County Park.
