Topics:
The event will bring Journalism and Media Literacy perspectives together and will reflect on the two following main topics:
1) Building Trust and Audience Engagement in Media
How can journalists and media build trust in an age of disinformation and rising influence of social media? What policy instruments are available in the EU to empower both journalists and citizens to uphold their fundamental rights and protect our democracy?
2) The Stolen Focus: Big Tech and the Public Interest
How do social media platforms function and how their business models affect us? Can privately owned big tech ever truly serve for the common good? Which skills do citizens need in navigating the complexities of the digital environments, especially with the prevalence of AI? How should the EU react and adapt its policies and regulations accordingly?

The e-EngAGEd (Intergenerational Digital Engagement) Project, funded by the European Commission under the CERV programme, aims to enhance critical thinking and media literacy by empowering young volunteers as facilitators who can share their digital knowledge with older adults. By fostering dialogue on disinformation, digital citizenship, and civic engagement, e-EngAGEd promotes shared responsibility for digital transformation.
