Lowell's Acts of Random Kindness (ARK) Club is a club at Lowell striving to spread happiness around campus and our community one random act of kindness at a time, free of charge.
In the past, we’ve hung locker notes on every locker at Lowell for Valentines, each one with a punny (ha) Valentines-themed joke. During Easter, we’ve hidden Easter eggs filled with candy around the courtyard for people to find. We’ve handed out care packages to juniors and seniors who were taking the SAT/ACT that included pencils, water, and snacks. Many of our “acts” take place during finals and AP testing, as that’s when people are most stressed and need a surprise act of kindness to make their day. Previously during finals, we’ve had finals-themed locker notes and even had a free food table set up on the catwalk.
Our most ambitions and well-known project yet was our Cookie Act, where we baked a cookie for every person at Lowell for finals.
Not only do we spread kindness around the Lowell campus, but also around our San Francisco community. We’ve handed out homeless care packages filled with food and water to those without homes in the Financial District.
During quarantine, we've had to overcome the barrier of being unable to meet in person. Instead, we've created many new projects that are completely doable from your home.
And if you haven’t noticed, all the things we do are carried out free of charge.
We achieve this by setting up bake sales and receiving grants to have sufficient funds, but most importantly, we need all of you. As members, you will be helping us carry out these acts on a scale we wouldn't be able to alone. Without our members, we wouldn’t exist as a club, so we do ask for some level of dedication if you do decide to join.
We'll be having meetings on the 3rd floor (room 339) every other Monday at 3:50pm. You should get an email before our meetings and if not, just show up!
