ALGAECAN technology: Fruits & Vegetables Processing Industry
The ALGAECAN technology is an innovative concept for in-situ wastewater treatment, reuse and resource recovery within the Fruit and Vegetable processing industry. It suggests a sustainable treatment model of effluents with high organic load through heterotrophic microalgae cultivation. It produces a purified liquid effluent which can be used as irrigation water or for cleaning equipment or installations, and a semi-solid stream of microalgae, which, after concentration using spray drying technology, can serve as raw material for the production of bio fertilizers and animal feed.
