Course Description
The Faith & Finances course is designed to equip stewards in personal financial management as a foundation for helping their own household flourish and for administrating God’s work fruitfully in church and organizational settings. Students will explore God’s Word on financial management, learn the core practices and financial skills of faithful stewards, and discover best practices for handling money in marriage, family, and ministry.

FACULTY:   Dr. Gary G. Hoag, PhD.

Gary G. Hoag, Ph.D. (New Testament – Trinity College, Bristol, UK) has dedicated his life to encouraging Christian generosity. With about a quarter of his time, he serves as the Generosity Monk. He posts daily meditations and provides spiritual and strategic counsel for church and ministry leaders on nurturing a culture of generosity in their congregations and constituencies.

Rev. Dr. Hoag was ordained in St. Jude’s Anglican Cathedral in 1995 in partnership with the Evangelical Free Church of Canada. Today he trains ministers in many denominations, while also teaching in seminaries around the world, such as Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (IL), Denver Seminary (CO), Northern Seminary (IL), and Torch Trinity Graduate University (South Korea).

Also, he currently dedicates about quarter of his time to serve as ECFA International Liaison. In this role he interfaces with national leaders to encourage the faithful administration of God’s work. Through ECFA Press, he coauthored The Sower: Redefining the Ministry of Raising Kingdom Resources (2010) and The Choice: The Christ-Centered Pursuit of Kingdom Outcomes (2014).

Rev. Dr. Hoag is an internationally known author and speaker who also served as a content reviewer for the NIV Stewardship Study Bible (2009). His scholarly research, Wealth in Ancient Ephesus and the First Letter to Timothy, was published by the Institute for Biblical Research in the BBRS series (2015). He lectures on biblical studies topics around the world.

He earned a B.A. in Accounting at Cedarville College and an M.Div. from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University. He formerly served as vice president of advancement at Denver Seminary and Colorado Christian University. Today he resides in Littleton, Colorado, with his wife Jenni. They have a grown son, Samuel David, and a grown daughter, Sophie Victoria.
