Over-The-Counter Birth Control Survey

Over-the-Counter contraceptives are birth control options that don’t need a prescription and can be found on shelves in the aisles at stores and pharmacies – like condoms, spermicides, and Plan B emergency pills.

Access to over-the-counter birth control methods will soon become easier.

Starting January 1, 2024, people in California will be able to use their private health insurance, Medi-Cal, or Family PACT program card to get over-the-counter birth control methods for free at pharmacies.
