SpeakOut: Volunteer to Participate
About the project
SpeakOut is an oral history project dedicated to recording and preserving the history of Dartmouth’s LGBTQIA+ community. All SpeakOut interviews become part of the Dartmouth College Archives, and are publicly available at Rauner Special Collections Library and online. If you are a member of the Dartmouth community broadly defined (former students, administrators, faculty, and staff) and you have memories that document an aspect of LGBTQIA+ history at Dartmouth, we welcome your participation in SpeakOut. In the interest of transparency, please note that volunteer response often exceeds the number of interviewers available at any given time. In the early stages of SpeakOut, we may prioritize volunteers in order to meet two goals: 1) capture memories that document the earliest history of the LGBTQIA+ community and 2) include voices that collectively reflect the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. In later stages of the project, we may at times focus on specific eras or events in Dartmouth history and select volunteers accordingly. All volunteers will receive confirmation that their information has been recorded within two weeks of volunteering. If you are not immediately selected for an interview, please know that your story is important to us and we will interview you as soon as we’re able. *
