ROLE DESCRIPTIONAdmissionSquad seeks part-time teachers to prepare 6th - 8th grade students for Common Core state tests and/or Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT). We’re looking for teachers who are deeply passionate about teaching and willing to put their heart and soul into every lesson. Above all, we're looking for teachers who understand the challenges of urban education and are willing to hold students to high standards.
Role and Responsibilities Utilize a variety of proven, research-based instructional strategies to deliver Common Core-aligned lessons in reading (informational text and literature), writing (persuasive) and language arts (grammar, mechanics and vocabulary) Assist in the design and implementation of lessons plans and interim assessments, including, but not limited to, unit plans, lesson plans, assessment practices, etc. Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families and colleagues Develop and maintain a positive, structured and mission-aligned classroom environment that incorporates the skills and knowledge needed for high school Demonstrate leadership through positivity, creative problem solving and taking initiative
REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's or master’s degree in Education, English or related content area Thorough knowledge of Common Core ELA standards, Grade 6-8 Minimum 1 year middle-school teaching experience Impeccable classroom management skills
SEMESTERSSpring (January through May), Summer (June through August), Fall (September through November)
SCHEDULESaturday and/or Sunday, 12:30PM-5:30PM
COMPENSATION$30-40/hour for instruction + $10/hour for administrative responsibility
