Changes made to the IHL Board of Trustees' Policies and Bylaws on April 21 prompted members of UM’s faculty to ask the Ombuds Office to provide a mechanism for allowing faculty to anonymously offer their perspectives on the recent changes.  This is consistent with the role historically played by the Ombuds Office.  In the past, the Ombuds Office has received comments, concerns, and other input from members of the campus community, anonymized the input, and conveyed this anonymized information to UM’s Administration and the leadership of shared governance groups so that these campus leaders have access to the broadest possible range of data when assessing what, if any, action should be taken in light of the campus community’s perspectives. The demographic information in question one may prove helpful in better understanding campus perspectives but need not be completed.
