As graduates of Israeli gap year programs, we carry immense influence in our community in regards to conversations about Israel. Therefore, we believe that it is our obligation to urge the American Jewish community and elected officials to publicly oppose Netanyahu's plan for unilateral annexation of part of the West Bank.
This is an independent grassroots campaign, not associated with any existing Israel organization. Our plan is to collect as many signatures possible from gap year graduates. We then plan to send this letter to leading American Jewish organizations such as AIPAC and the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. Our formal ask is for these organizations to issue public condemnations of proposed annexation. These organizations hold major sway in the American-Israeli relationship. They look to us as the future leaders of the American-Israel partnership. By making them aware of our opinions, we will pressure them to take more assertive action. Co-currently, we will also publish this letter online.
UPDATE: The letter has been sent to the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations, AIPAC, and AJC. However, we are still collecting signatures. The letter will remain live at the link below:
