U18 Wrestling Team - Information
Lutte NB Wrestling's (LNBW) U18 Team is designed to provide New Brunswick wrestlers with a pathway to reach their full potential. Built around the principles of Wrestling Canada Lutte's Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, the U18 Team will provide New Brunswick wrestlers in the later phase of Train to Wrestle and the Wrestle to Compete stage with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to achieve national and international success through access to elite level training camps and competitions.
The U18 Team is open to wrestlers born between 2001 & 2004. Program participants will have the opportunity to receive instruction from New Brunswick's best coaches, and have access to international competition.
The goal of the U18 Team is to develop and transition homegrown talent into Wrestle to Win stage champions, while assisting athletes to podium success at each stage of their development.
The U18 Team will comprise of the following weight classes:
Men: 39-42, 45, 48, 51, 55, 60, 65, 71, 80, 92, 110, 125 kg
Women: 36-40, 43, 46, 49, 53, 57, 61, 65, 69, 73 ,80, 90 kg
New Brunswick Wrestlers will receive initiations to participate in the U18 Team's Talent ID Camp if the following criteria is met:
" Medalist at the U17 and/or U19 Canadian Championships
" Place in the top three (3) of a weight class in the U17 or U19 division of the 2019 New Brunswick Open
" A previous member of the U18 Wrestling Team
" Be born with in 2001 & 2004
" Hold a valid passport
" Be a member in good standing of LNBW
Athletes from Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island may be permitted to join the U18 Team if there are no eligible LNBW Members to fill a weight class.
Athletes who successfully meet the U18 Team Eligibility Criteria will be invited to attend the U18 Talent ID Camp on May 26, 2019 in Fredericton, NB. Athletes who successfully complete the U18 Talent ID Camp will be admitted to the program for 2019. In the event that there is more than one athlete for the weight class, a wrestle off to determine the spot will occur at the conclusion of the camp.
The U18 Team training schedule is as follows:
" May 26, 2019 - U18 Talent ID Camp - Fredericton, NB
" June 9, 2019 - USA Tournament - TBA
" July 1-6, 2019 - Atlantic Regional Wrestling Camp - Antigonish, NS
" December 28-30, 2019 - Winter Training Camp - Fredericton, NB
Athletes will be expected to make all scheduled training events. Online training logs will be provided to each athlete to log training hours on a weekly basis. Failure to do so may result in removal from the U18 Team.
The cost to attend the U18 Talent ID Camp will be $20.00. Athletes who attend the camp will receive the following benefits:

The cost of participation on the U18 Team will be $360.00. Athletes who participate in the program will receive the following benefits:

" Supervised Web-Based Strength & Conditioning Program
" Travel, Accommodations, & Entry Fee for USA Tour
" $150 Discount on Atlantic Regional Wrestling Camp
" Accommodations & Entry at LNBW Winter Training Camp
Members of U18 Team will receive fundraising assistance from LNBW. Athletes will receive fundraising letters for donations, and a raffle will be organized to offset the cost of participation.
