Brown Bag Lunch Series: LGBTQI Inclusivity & Allyship in Learning Spaces
We are excited to host these workshops which are co-sponsored and facilitated by the Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Life at Vanderbilt University. This month-long series of 4 workshops aims to create an active learning community wherein current and future educators can build their capacity to personally enact and support LGBTQI inclusivity & allyship in postsecondary academic contexts. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Week 1-- LGBTQI resources on campus and beyond, information on the contemporary LGBTQI community (we encourage all participants to attend this first session if possible, as it will provide a foundation for weeks 2-3);
Week 2-- Gender expression, classroom gender norms, trans inclusivity;
Week 3-- Student panelists share personal stories and answer questions; and
Week 4-- Inclusive classroom pedagogy.
These sessions will be held every Wednesday in February (2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22). You can attend any or all of them.
