Become a Community Engagement Lab (CEL) Representative with The Beacon and help connect those traditionally underserved by the news media get connected with journalists in our newsrooms.
This opportunity could be a good fit if you:
- Live in Kansas or Missouri
- Are a good listener who is respectful, caring and curious
- Have a passion for civic engagement, community organizing and journalism
- Are connected with local clubs, associations, institutions or organizations driving positive change in our city
- Come with a viewpoint or experience that may be underrepresented in news coverage. This may include, race and ethnicity, political beliefs, sexual orientation or gender identity, age, geographic area, disability and accessibility, religion, workforce or housing status
- Could dedicate 5-10 hours per month to work with our Community Manager on story idea collection and/or content creation projects
