2020-2021 PTO Volunteers
Please consider using your time and talent to support our great school by volunteering to help with the following committees. We can't do what we do, without you. Choose any you would be interested in. Each committee needs at least 5 members, so feel free to choose more than one knowing we will not overload you :)

Buzz Book (5 volunteers) Type and publish the “Buzz Book,” an all-school directory.
Cash Rewards (10 volunteers) Coordinate the collection, sorting and mailing of Box Tops, Labels for Education, Coke Points, etc. Organize contests to motivate students to collect the above.
Room Parent: Coordinate/Organize class parties, teacher birthdays, teacher appreciation.
Educational Grant Program (6 volunteers) The Grant Program is designed to offer teachers/staff access to funding for curriculum-based materials, programs, activities & supplies to enhance education. In the fall, volunteers will advertise the program.
Family Fun Nights (12 volunteers) Coordinate materials and host an activity for families of each grade level. Volunteers do not host for their own child’s grade level. There are (4) fun nights per school year, each lasting (1) hour.
Gator Walk A Thon (15 volunteers) Plan this year’s major fundraiser, including the organization and gathering of pledge forms, specifics of the walk, and the dinner and dance two weeks prior to the walk.
Hospitality (50 volunteers) Provide meals and small tokens of appreciation at conference times and throughout Teacher Appreciation Week. Recognize all support staff on their specific recognition days with snacks/small tokens of appreciation.
Movie Nights (10 volunteers) Coordinate, advertise and run two movie nights throughout the school year.
Original Artworks Fund (5 volunteers) Original Works is an art-based fundraising program, the proceeds of which pay for the crossing guard on 156th Street. Volunteers will collect and send in student artwork as well as pass out products upon completion by Origin
Carnival (unlimited) Plan this year’s school carnival including the organization of food, games, activities, and volunteers.
Social Committee (15 volunteers) Plan social events for Abbott families and staff. In the past, such events have included an ice cream social following back to school night and the Snowflake Breakfast in January.
Volunteer Recruitment and Recognition (10 volunteers) Speak at PTO sponsored activities, welcome new students/families, nomination and selection for teacher, volunteer and Millard employee of the month.
Yearbook (15 volunteers) Select layouts, collects photos, and assemble information regarding students/school activities on yearbook pages. Orders taken fall/winter; books distributed in May. No experience necessary.
Youth Frontiers (25 volunteers) Coordinate location, transportation, volunteers, and volunteer meals for this year’s respect/anti-bullying retreat for all Abbott 4th graders.
