Certain Hope for the Future
And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:2-5

Keynote Speakers:
Dr. Leslie Smith - holds a Doctorate in Education from Pepperdine University’s prestigious Organizational Leadership program; her dissertation analyzed the relationship between mindset and psychological well-being among high achieving, college-bound students at private, Christian high schools.  Under her leadership, enrollment grew to record numbers at Red Hill Lutheran Elementary and Middle School in Tustin, California and at Orange Lutheran High School, the largest Lutheran High School in the country.  Dr. Smith has been a private school educator for more than 30 years. Not only has she been widely recognized for her research, visionary perspective, and strong servant leadership — she’s walked in your shoes and teaches from experience.

Rev. Dr. Patrick Ferry - began serving as Executive Director of Concordia High School in a part-time capacity on August 1, 2021.  In June 2021, Dr. Ferry retired from his position as President of Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) and Ann Arbor (CUAA).
Dr. Ferry has served at Concordia University Wisconsin for 30 years, 24 of those years as President and 6 years as an associate professor. CUW is the largest University associated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. In 2013 he helped lead the successful merger with a sister campus, Concordia University Ann Arbor. He is a strong supporter of Christian education.

Laura Colangelo- is the Executive Director of the Texas Private Schools Association, an advocacy organization representing the over 800 private, accredited, non-profit schools in Texas in the state legislature and in DC.  In this role, she is the “public voice for private schools in Texas.” Laura is also the Executive Director of the Texas Private Schools Accreditation Commission where she oversees the 15 accrediting commissions that accredit private schools in Texas. She is active in the Council for American Private Education. She really understands the whole legislative process and politics in Texas. Laura has forged valuable relationships and alliances with numerous Senators and Representatives.  Laura Colangelo is a very valuable ally to the mission of Private Schools in the State of Texas and to the mission of our Lutheran Schools. She gets it. Laura is a former Head of School of an Episcopal School.
