Welcome to The CARE Course goes WILDE! We are delighted you are here!
At The CARE Course goes WILDE! you will experience all the joy and learning of The CARE
Course... plus... some wilderness medicine. It includes ALL the
interprofessional emergency medicine, leadership and team working
content for rural emergency care folks PLUS some additional learning
related to working in even more austere environments. We will be outside
for additional sessions and activities that touch upon rescue medicine, a little bit of 'what if I am out there with no-one
else to help?' and lots of thinking about 'how does this challenging remote environment affect my care?’
The CARE Course goes WILDE! is happening on the outskirts of beautiful Pemberton, BC. The best experience for participants is to bring a tent, sleeping bag, etc. and camp right on the property. (Previous participants said this was one of the best parts of the course!! (The view is spectacular and you can easily fall into bed at the end of the day. The course is
fully catered so it really
is glamping. There are composting toilets, and access to an indoor shower. Yes, there is a local hotel 15 minutes away if that is
wanted... but camping really rocks and the days start early and finish late... And there is nothing like sitting under the stars right before you
head to bed.
The CARE Course goes WILDE! starts after lunch on Monday September 15th and finishes mid-morning on Thursday September 18th. For those interested, the timing ha been chosen to align with the start of the St. Paul's Emergency Medicine Update, starting on Thursday afternoon just down the road in Whistler.
The CARE Course goes WILDE! is accredited
for 51 Mainpro+ credits for physicians. Nurses can claim the education
hours attended and pre-hospital care providers can claim 14 EMALB credits.
