Join for a preview of Aviva Kemper's soon to be released documentary
entitled "The Rosenwald Schools." This documentary chronicles the little known story of Booker T. Washington, the country's preeminent African American Educator, and Julius Rosenwald, the son of German-Jewish immigrants and President
of Sears, Roebuck & Co, who collaborated to build over 5,300 schools
in 15 southern states to provide African American children a real
chance at a formal education. It is a moving and compelling story.
Dr. Thomas Durant will lead a discussion about the
lasting social impact of the Rosenwald Schools and their relevance
in enhancing our schools and communities today.
