Have your say on your community

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT HOW OUR COMMUNITY SHOULD AND SHOULD NOT DEVELOP

With your help, we are creating the ‘Heanton Punchardon Neighbourhood Plan’, to make sure that your views are reflected in how Wrafton, Heanton, Chivenor and the rural areas around us develop over the next 20 years. Our Neighbourhood Plan will work with the North Devon & Torridge (ND&T) Local Plan, adding our detailed local knowledge, preferences and ambitions to North Devon’s planning policy. It will carry real weight and help to define how our little slice of beautiful North Devon will look in the future.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

We can’t alter the ND&T Plan, but we can add to it. We can lay down our view about anything that is subject to planning laws, including housing and employment development , urban design and our natural environment. You can see the latest draft of the ND&T Local Plan at http://northdevon.gov.uk/localplan (click on Examination Pages) and scroll down to document SUB26 to find the main version).

OUR VISION FOR OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD

At our public meeting in December, local people said they valued the character of our neighbourhood, as small villages/settlements amid rural countryside close to our spectacular estuary – neighbouring, but separate from, Braunton. They saw the priorities as preserving the special rural character and charm of the area and maintaining safe, valued, friendly village communities. But they also wanted a thriving local economy with good facilities. So now we’re asking you for your views, to help us achieve this.
