#LiteracyLiftsNY Advocacy Day - FY22
Join NYCCAL for this year's #LiteracyLiftsNY Advocacy on February 23 & February 24!

Each year, the New York Coalition for Adult Literacy (NYCCAL) and Literacy NY (LNY) advocate for Adult Literacy Education funding. By meeting with elected officials who have a final say in the State budget, this is our chance to emphasize the importance of supporting and expanding adult literacy for all New Yorkers.

This year, due to the pandemic and social distance guidelines, we'll be moving our advocacy days online. NYCCAL will use Zoom to set up meetings on February 23 and 24th between state reps and NYCCAL members. We will follow up with registered participants to share meeting assignments and other details once we have a final slate of meetings and RSVPs. There are still some unanswered questions about how the legislature will conduct itself remotely, so please bear with us as we expect last-minute scheduling changes.

DAY-OF DETAILS
To kick off our advocacy days, we will host an "Advocacy 101" session on 2/23 at 10am to brief participants on ALE talking points and provide guidance and best practices for leading effective meetings with representatives, especially in this virtual world. We'll spend the rest of our time advocating on social media and meeting with state representatives to demonstrate the widespread need for expanded access to adult literacy.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS:
All participants (individuals and groups) must fill out this form and provide your contact information by Tuesday, February 16. We ask anyone who is interested in participating to keep your schedule flexible the week of Feb 23 and be prepared for last-minute scheduling changes.
