Our Site:

The William Butterworth Foundation, a 501(c)3 private operating foundation, was established in 1951 by Katherine Deere Butterworth (John Deere’s granddaughter) in honor of her husband for the benefit of the community. Known as the Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House, these two historic homes and associated structures serve as year-round sites for quality educational and cultural events; meeting space for non-profit organizations; and historic tour locations for local, national, and international visitors. Our mission is to honor our heritage by supporting service, culture, and education in the Quad Cities community. And our vision is that our work helps to create a community that values its heritage, serves one another, and finds joy in learning.

Your Event at Our Site:

Thank you for choosing Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House for your event. Please know that the impact of your rental fee ripples throughout the community when you support our mission. We donate over $400,000 annually in free meeting space to 250 diverse not-for-profit and educational organizations in the Quad Cities. We provide 12,500 visitors each year with a variety of educational and cultural programs for all ages, as well as host over 2,500 local, national, and international visitors for tours of our sites. Most exciting, your rental fee will touch future generations by helping preserve two locally significant homes and grounds that celebrate the story of our community as told through Deere family history.
