Registration: Expanding the Historical Narrative
Free monthly virtual writing workshops. Come explore how history, race, class, culture, gender and life experience have impacted your values and identity. Discover your voice and style, sift through your family albums and your memories, build writing and listening skills, and create community with a diverse group of folks. Open to residents of the Calfornia Central Coast and /or Hawai'i.  You don't have to have a long history on of living inj those places. We'll collectively explore the factors that have shaped us. Questions? Email Shizue Seigel <shiz1@mindspring.com>

Facilitator Shizue Seigel has offered writing workshops, readings and anthologies to writers and artists of color (and allies) on the San Francisco Bay Area for seven years.

Because of her family ties  to SLO County and Hawai'i.  she is offering a year-long series of virtual  workshops  to begin in May.
• Each workshop begins with a round of short self introductions.
• Then a 10-minute free write to a prompt (or your own topic). Don't think too hard,. Give your critical, planning  mind a rest and  your intuition speak. Keep your hand moving.
• Anyone who wants to share their free write can do so.
• Then anyone who brought a pre-written piece  (1000 words or less) on personal or family history can read it aloud, and specify what sort of feedback they want.
• if there's time we'll do another free write.
