In an effort to continue supporting the growth of independent non-fiction film and the essential role of producers, Facet is sponsoring the development of a new experimental producer group. 

This group will consist of 3-5 working independent documentary producers with a commitment to creating independent and innovative films. The group will center the well-being of a collective, explore new avenues for producer-to-producer collaboration, and create a space for creative inspiration and professional growth. The group will be producer-led and be active for a minimum three-year term. Individual producers will continue making their own films under their own production companies, but within the framework of a small producing community. 

Each participant will receive a yearly living stipend of at least $25,000 in recognition for their contribution to this endeavor. 

Eligibility 

• Applicants must have received producing credits on at least two completed feature-length documentary films in which they did not fill another lead role (i.e. director, cinematographer editor, etc.). At least one credit must be “Producer” or “Produced by.” 
• Applicants must reside in the United States. 
• Applicants with demonstrated financial need will be given priority
• Please note, the group is designed for experienced producers, and credits are one way to determine level of expertise. If you feel you qualify as an experienced producer, but don’t meet the above credit eligibility requirements, you are welcome to apply. Feel free to provide any additional notes in the final question of the application.

Commitment & Participation Requirements

• Participants will be active in the group for 3 years (2024-2026)
• Participants must commit to the equivalent of 2 days per month to the group, at minimum. 
• Participants must be willing to meet in person one time per year. (Travel costs will be paid for). 
• Upon completion of the 3 year term, participants are expected to collectively document, gather and share aspects of their experience to the wider documentary community, in order to benefit producers and the field at large. Exact deliverables and format to be determined.
