The Arkansas Foodbank, the largest food bank in Arkansas, is a member of Feeding America and the
Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. We create new and innovative programming focused on serving hungry
Arkansans with more healthy and nutritious food. Programs like Food for Kids, Food for Families, and
Food for Seniors provide food and other resources for more than 450 food pantries, soup kitchens,
schools, colleges, shelters, senior centers, and other agencies that provide aid directly to hungry

Harvesters Young Professionals Purpose
Harvesters is a young professionals group dedicated to volunteering, fundraising and advocating on
behalf of the Arkansas Foodbank in support of its mission. The group draws strength from its diversity of
members and professional backgrounds and through varying experiences.

Benefits of Membership

Member Requirements
+ Membership fee of $30
+ Includes coverage of t-shirt and name badge
+ Required to attend four (4) volunteer events per year and two (2) mission projects: one “Helpy Hour”
and one agency visit.
+ Serve actively on your selected committee, under direction of the Committee Chair
+ Help promote and recruit new members

+ Membership and Finance: Support the Chair by creating membership appreciation events/tasks,
recruiting new members, and identifying ways to support members through professional trainings, etc.
+ Events: support the two annual fundraisers (Empty Bowls and Harvest Night) by soliciting
sponsorships, auction items, and in-kind donations. Help with event logistics and promoting each event.
+ Community: helps with third-party fundraisers that benefit the Foodbank such as THV’s Summer
Cereal Drive, Cinco de Heights, Greek Food Festival, Chili Fights in the Heights, and more.
+ Service: executing service opportunities including “Helpy Hour,” pantry visits, the Food 4 the Holidays
Telethon, and more.
+ Marketing: support Chair with design ideas and distribution through social media platforms and email.

Annual Events
+ Empty Bowls is the Foodbank’s signature fundraiser held every spring. This formal evening of fun
includes dinner from several of Little Rock’s best local restaurants, an amazing live band, a silent and
live auction, and libations.
+ Harvest Night is hosted during Hunger Action Month, which takes place every September. The familyfriendly
event includes live music, a petting zoo, a silent auction, craft beverages, southern food, outdoor
games, and so many fun activities for kids, all taking place in the Foodbank’s Warehouse.
+ THV’s Summer Cereal Drive runs the entire month of June. The Summer Cereal Drive provides nonperishable
breakfast items that are both nutritious and kid-friendly for children and families in Central
Arkansas who would otherwise go without the most important meal of the day - breakfast. Support this
event by starting a team at your place of work, collecting cereal and monetary donations.
+ Third party events benefitting the Foodbank:
++ Cinco de Heights is hosted by Height’s Taco & Tamale to benefit the Foodbank. This fiesta takes
place on Kavanaugh and includes live music, golf cart float competition and parade, golf cart giveaway,
activities for kids, a mojito-margarita-beer zone, and lots more!
++ International Greek Food Festival is in May. Guests will enjoy a vast array of food, cultural
performances, shopping, and children’s activities. Volunteers will be working the front gate, collecting $ + food
++ Chili Fights in the Heights is a family friendly event put on in conjunction with the Heights
Neighborhood Association and Heights Business Association (along with the help of a few fun oriented
citizens) with the hope of bringing the community together, showing off our unique area of town and
generating a charitable donation for the Arkansas Foodbank. It typically takes place on a Saturday in

Service Projects
+ Harvester’s “Helpy Hour” will be hosted on an agreed upon date by members. It will be a volunteer
activity in the warehouse that Harvesters will lead. Open to the all young professionals in the central
Arkansas area.
+ Agency Visits as a distribution hub for 450 agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, schools,
colleges, shelters, senior centers, and other agencies that provide aid directly to hungry Arkansans. You
will pick a day to volunteer for a few hours at one of our agencies.
