A message from Focus on the City Director, Alonzo Perrin
My name is Alonzo Perrin, and I am the Director of Focus on the City. Focus on the City is a non-profit organization focused on empowering, inspiring, and impacting the lives of families and children of East St. Louis, Illinois. I started this organization to honor and continue the combined 60-year legacy of dedicated service to the community of East Saint Louis set forth by my parents, the late Mr. Alonzo, former East St. Louis Police Chief, and Toni Perrin, retired East St. Louis Public School educator. Our past events took place in my hometown of East St. Louis, Illinois and Houston Texas. Since our inception five years ago, we partnered with the Jackie-Joyner Kersee Foundation to provide families with school supplies, clothing, and groceries in our back-to-school drives. These events have been highly successful as we have served over 700 families. April 9th 2022, we hosted a black boy’s empowerment series called Battles, Books and Business in East St. Louis. We supplied 11 boys with suits and entrepreneurial resources and true black history information. We are ready to bring this event back to my hometown of East St. Louis on April 22nd, 2023. God has provided us with knowledgeable and wise speakers, and they will provide strategies that can help empower the next generation of youth in the city of East St. Louis. The time is now to get the future leaders ready for the next levels of life. Please visit www.focusonthecity.org to see information regarding our missions and past events which includes pictures from our first two Battles, Books and Business events. Stay safe and God Bless.
