Dr PM Nair, IPS, Former DGP NDRF, Anti Trafficking Expert & TATA Chair Professor, TISS Mumbai is known as the father of the anti-trafficking efforts in the Indian subcontinent.
He completed his MA Sociology Kerala University Thiruvananthapuram and later went on to complete his PhD in sociology. He worked with ICSSR before joining IPS where he worked for 35 years. he also worked in CBI for 10 years. Some of the Important cases investigated include Rajiv Gandhi assassination, BOFORS case, ISRO Espionage, International Arms Drop at Purulia, Sanjay Ghose abduction and International human trafficking cases. He Retired as DGP of National Disaster Response Force Govt of India.
He was Head of Centre for Public Security and Head of the National Research on Human Trafficking in India. Have rescued personally or helped in the rescue of more than 50000 victims. He has also trained hundreds of stakeholders which included the police and NGOs both nationally and internationally. He with the collaboration of colleges across India has been successful in launching Anti- Human Trafficking Clubs and through this novel initiative aims to provide a platform for Students to combat Human Trafficking and also raise awareness in collaboration with Police Officials and NGOs.
Dr Kiran Bedi in the Foreword to the latest book on Investigating sex trafficking by PM Nair (this is the 18th book on trafficking issues by him) has stated that PM Nair is the Father of the Anti Human Trafficking Movement in India
