SmartHike, started in 2011, offers a time/cost efficient way
to hike sections of the Appalachian Trail. Why
carry a heavy backpack when you can day hike the trail?
The support van carries your food, clothing, camping
equipment and water. All you carry is a day pack that should be under 10 pounds
including water.

TO REGISTER: Fill out this form and mail

Folk School, PO Box 93, Mountain City, TN 37683
Balance of donation is due at
end of your SmartHike session (cash or check).
Remember, these hikes are NOT for beginners.
Participants should have prior day-hiking/backpacking experience. Participants
should have outdoor camping skills such as: putting up a tent, or tarp, for
shelter and cooking with a backpacking stove. Just remember, having a support vehicle carrying most of your weight doesn’t
make it easier, but it makes it less difficult.
