Volunteer Application - Swim to Survive Champion
The Swim to Survive Champion is a volunteer that, under the direction of the Aquatics Supervisor and Aquatics Programmer, assists our department in delivering safe and fun Swim to Survive lessons for MacEwan students. The Canadian Swim to Survive standard is the minimum skills needed to survive an unexpected fall into deep water: ROLL into deep water, TREAD water for one minute, and SWIM 50 metres.

Minimum: 7.5 hours – 3 hours of training, then 3 x 1.5 hours’ commitment is required (one full Swim to Survive lesson set).

For Co-Curricular Record eligibility: a minimum of 21 hours – 3 hours of training, then 4 full Swim to Survive lesson sets (4.5 hours each = 18 hours) is required.

Supplementary Benefits to Volunteering
MacEwan students are eligible for Co-Curricular Record volunteering for a minimum of 21 hours – 3 hours of training, then 4 full Swim to Survive lesson sets (4.5 hours each = 18 hours).

Volunteers of over 20 hours seeking further employment in Aquatics will receive a 50% discount in any Aquatics leadership training course with us if present for all shifts without absenteeism. Eligible courses are:

• Bronze Medallion / Bronze Cross
• National Lifeguard (NL) / Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC) / Oxygen Administration (O2)
• NL, AEC and O2 Recertification
• Swim / Lifesaving Instructor
• Swim / Lifesaving Instructor Recertification
