2017-2018 AMSA AIDS Advocacy Network Steering Committee Application
The AIDS Advocacy Network (AAN) is a national network focused on advocating for the end of the global AIDS pandemic. The Steering Committee is the group of 8-12 AMSA members that determines AAN's yearly goals, projects, and campaigns and helps chapters build their own capacity to do AIDS advocacy. We teach advocacy skills like how to build a relationship with your legislators, how to do call-ins, how to write op-eds in newspapers, and how to organize demonstrations to show public support for ending AIDS.

We invite all of you with interest in ending HIV/AIDS and TB to apply. Advocacy experience is looked upon favorably but we encourage any interested AMSA member to apply if this opportunity interests them. Steering Committee applications are now accepted all year long! We will be reviewing applications and making our final decisions by the following week or with expected outreach afterwards.

Would you be interested in helping lead a potential AMSA AAN Scholars Program?
The AMSA Scholars Program is a year-long training course that is structured for students to take leadership and management roles in projects surrounding health issues. AAN has previously hosted our own in the past, but we decided to focus on providing guest lectures for other Scholars Programs (ex. Global Health, Pre-Med, etc.) during the 2016-2017 school year. We will have to decide again our preferences for the 2017-2018 year. If we do have a Scholars program, we will have approximately 15-20 Scholars working on HIV/AIDS Advocacy. Responsibilities will include coordinating monthly webinars, journal readings, final advocacy projects, and etc. Note: You do not have to have taken a previous Scholars Program or the AAN Scholars Program course in order to answer this question. If YES, please answer the following questions. If No, you're done!
[AMSA-AAN Scholars Program] If AAN does host a scholars program, please 1) Describe any experience with teaching or webinars 2) Identify your availability throughout the year as well as any constraints.
