EEC Tech Side Hustle: Spring '24 Application
Are you a student entrepreneur creating or ideating a tech-based startup in Northeast Ohio? Have you already started, and need guidance from been-there-done-that experts??

Look no further than the EEC Tech Side Hustle program, designed for students Just. Like. You!

Tech Side Hustle (TSH) is a program designed for student entrepreneurs who have a desire to create a tech-based startup, but may not know how to get started. We provide coaching, funding, and workshops lead by experienced entrepreneurs. At the end of the program, you will have real world experience validating a market segment, completed positioning for your solution, and outlined steps and requirements to build a minimum viable product.

Next Steps: Applicants who are a fit will be contacted for interviews in mid February. The program start date will be early March, with a kick-off event in on February 23rd from 2pm -3:30pm at CWRU's Sears think[Box].

Program Outcomes
  • Coaching and Funding: Gain valuable entrepreneurial guidance and coaching, along with up to $3,000 funding, skill development, services, and equipment support.

  • Workshops and Networking: Connect with like-minded individuals and mentors through hands-on workshops, one-on-one check-ins with our entrepreneur-in-residence, and meetings with assigned mentors.

  • Real-world Experience: Develop low-fidelity prototypes, learn market validation strategies, and outline the requirements for your minimum viable product.

  • Entrepreneurial Ecosystem: Get connected to follow-on programming and explore the vibrant entrepreneurial resources available in Northeast Ohio.

Program Activities (Dates TBD)

  • In-person kick-off event
  • One-on-one check-ins with entrepreneur-in-residence
  • Meetings with your assigned mentor
  • Hands-on workshops to enhance and apply your entrepreneurial skills
  • Tour of startup resources throughout Northeast Ohio
  • Insights from experienced entrepreneurs
  • Finale event

Program Details:

  • Location: Mostly virtual with occasional in-person events across Northeast Ohio.
  • Dates: Early March 2024 for approximately 3-4 months (exact dates TBD).
  • Commitment: Participants should have an identified idea or problem area and commit 2-3 hours/week for programming, with the opportunity for additional self-driven work.
  • Funding: Up to $3,000 in technical support per team

In addition to attending the in-person kick-off event in late February, this involves regularly engaging and communicating with Entrepreneurs in Residence, taking advantage of support offered, completing any assignments, attending live sessions (mostly virtual with some in-person events), actively participating in discussions with subject matter experts and peers, and joining our alumni network. Please be aware that this is a get-out-what-you-put-in program with high expectations for engagement, but the potential returns are equally significant! *
