The Ken Davis Triathlon Fundraiser benefiting The Refuge Center for Counseling
On June 23rd I am competing in the Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon. At 72 years old what on earth would inspire me to compete in a triathlon? I have four good reasons.

1. I have a twisted mind and age is making it worse.
2. I have the body of a 22 year old athlete….in my dreams.
3. It gives me a chance to train with my granddaughter Lexi whom I love very much
4. I can raise some money for “The Refuge Center”

As my friends, there is nothing you can do about the first three reasons, but I implore you to help me help “The Refuge Center for Counseling” continue doing their life-changing, life-saving work. I have never before asked for donations for anything on social media, but I believe in this ministry so much I am willing to swim in very deep water to help them.

The Refuge Center is a non-profit personal and family counseling center that provides Christ-centered, affordable counseling for people from all walks of life. Their counseling has helped me through some difficult periods in my life and I continue to seek their professional counseling, as I need it. Fortunately, I can afford to pay for my therapy. Your gifts will help The Refuge Center continue to offer counseling on a sliding scale that makes it available to people in all income levels. You can learn more about them here

Here’s my Challenge to you.

The Triathlon includes a 400-meter swim, a 20-kilometer bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run. That’s a little more than 30 Kilometers.

Here is my challenge:

$30 funds one session on The Refuge Center's sliding scale fee system.

Donate a dollar for each kilometer that I am able to finish. That would be a max of $30 and much less if I sink during the swim.

If you want to go out on a limb, pledge to donate $30, make that $300 if I take 1st 2nd or 3rd place in my age division. I believe I will finish just short of two hours, but I have no idea if that is enough to reach the winner's podium.

All of us go through times of loss or discouragement or failure. In those valleys we desperately need help. Many of you know that this kind of counseling saved my life many years ago. Now I want to help The Refuge Center reach people who might not be able to find help anywhere else. Your help will make me swim, bike and run as fast as I can.
