The HeART & Home theme is “WHAT DOES A DIVERSE, INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY LOOK LIKE TO YOU?” and the contest is open to all Vermonters in three age divisions: child, teen, and adult. The deadline is midnight, April 15, 2019.
Original artwork may be in any format: painting, drawing, collage, fiber art, photography, comic art, sculpture, etc. The art must be photographed or scanned and submitted electronically using this form. (Original artwork accompanied by a printed submission form also will be accepted at the Fair Housing Project, CVOEO, 255 South Champlain St., in Burlington.)

The winning art will also be featured in a statewide Fair Housing public service campaign.
The contest is sponsored by the Fair Housing Project of the Champlain Valley Office of Economic Opportunity, with the support of students in the UVM Community Development & Applied Economics Public Communication Capstone class.

CONTEST THEME: The HeART & Home Art Contest promotes and celebrates Fair Housing Month. The prompt for this contest is “What does a diverse, inclusive community look like to you?” Bonus points will be awarded to submissions that include concepts of home and/or housing.
ELIGIBILITY: The contest is divided into three age categories:12 and under, 13 to 17, and 18 and older.
CONTEST DEADLINE: The HeART & Home Art Contest closes at midnight, April 15, 2019. Winners will be announced April 28.
- Artwork must be submitted electronically.*- Artists may photograph or scan any type of artwork (drawings, paintings, collages, cartoon art, fabric art, etc.). Do not submit images that contain watermarks or are framed.- Image files must be JPG format at a minimum 600 dpi (submissions that don’t meet the minimum requirements for image quality will not be judged). - Submissions must be original work created by the artist who entered the contest. - Limit 1 submission per contestant. - Artists must also provide a brief description interpreting the submitted artwork (350 word maximum).- The submission deadline is midnight April 1, 2019.

PRIZES: Each of the age categories will have prizes for the first- and second-place winners.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Each submission will be judged by a team of artists and project partners. They will be evaluated based on the connection to the theme (What does a diverse, inclusive community look like to you?), creativity and originality, and bonus points will be awarded to submissions that include concepts of home and/or housing.
USE OF ART: All submissions will be shared with the public through social media. The winning art will also be featured in a statewide Fair Housing public service campaign.
