Want to learn about Beekeeping? Volunteer with us today!
Want to see first-hand how we are Building A Better Bee? ... Saturday mornings from sunrise until it is too hot to work (spring until late fall), we work on the bees. There are endless opportunities for you to get practical hands on experience with bees. (People have driven down here from upstate PA, and up from NC, just to work with us.) We don’t charge anything, but we do ask for decent chunk of time (3-4 hours), because less doesn’t allow for much to get done. Come several times and you will see how an urban beekeeper is managing 100+ hives in 20+ yards, making his own queens, endless splits, solving the challenges of individual yards. You will gain a lot more insight touching 20+ hives in one day than you could ever get looking at the usual 2-4 hives most people have … Trust me, a fun time is always had by all! I have a few extra small and medium sized pants and jackets, and various gloves to loan if you don’t have any.
