Masterclass on Vocal Music from the 20th and 21st Centuries with Viktoriia Vitrenko

As part of the cross-cultural project "PRESENT PAST" by the Goethe Institut, featuring music by Chico Melo and Peter Kerkelov, Ukrainian soprano and conductor Viktoriia Vitrenko, specializing in contemporary music, is conducting a series of educational sessions. These sessions are divided into two parts: online lectures and on-site master classes.

Dates of the master classes:

11th and 12th December, 2023

This registration form is for participants who wish to explore and practice vocal music from the 20th and 21st centuries. Students can either bring their own repertoire or, encouraged by the lectures, delve into avant-garde vocal music. Scores can be found via following link:

There's no need to memorize pieces in advance or to learn them through. For music pieces with accompaniment, participants should provide their own piano or any other instrument accompaniment.

Viktoriia Vitrenko's provided scores are designed for a cappella singing.

Master class schedule: Each student will have a 45-minute time slot, and there will be 10 slots available. The exact timetable will be posted after the results are determined.

The master class will be conducted in The National Academy of Music, Sofia in English (recommended language level - B1). Participation is free upon registration and selection. I am very excited to welcome you!

Her remarkable musical precision and expressive personality make her exceptionally adept at interpreting contemporary music. Viktoriia's career has taken her to stages across Germany, Great Britain, Norway, the Netherlands, France, Macedonia, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Romania, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Russia. Her debut album, "Scenes" (2019, AUDITE), featuring chamber music by György Kurtág, received the Supersonic Pizzicato Award and earned nominations for the German Record Critics Award (PdSK-2019) and the International Contemporary Music Awards 2020 (ICMA 2020).
