Apply to be a fact-checker for Factual
FACTUAL is a first-of-its-kind fact-checking agency, matching vetted fact-checkers to nonfiction writers, publishers, and producers who want to bring compelling and accurate works of nonfiction into the world.

The questions on this application reflect the current state of the market and demand for fact-checking services.

Please fill out all the required fields below, and take note that you will be required to provide two sets of references. (The information you provide here should be readily verifiable by a third party -- very similar to the fact-checking process.) You're welcome to notify your references in advance, although it is not required. Any applications submitted without at least two sets of references will not be reviewed. If you submit work that you've authored as a fact-checking sample, your application will not be reviewed.

Due to the expected volume of responses, Factual will not be able to give you individualized feedback on your application. Applications will be reviewed on a quarterly basis as per the schedule before. Factual will not be able to provide individualized updates on your application.

Please note: fact-checking is a very specific skillset. It is not equivalent to conducting research. It is not equivalent to reporting. Fact-checking is similar to the peer-review process in scientific processing: it is a peer-review for accuracy. Please do not submit work you have authored yourself.

Please note: we are specifically looking for fact-checkers who have pre-publication fact-checking experience. We are not accepting applications from applicants who conduct post-publication fact-checking (such as Snopes).
