Your answer
Check for understanding!
Let's make sure we're on the same page
I understand that this course is accredited the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE). It includes all 60 hours of coursework required by the Academy as part of their Associate Level Certification. Instruction in the OG approach, dyslexia, the brain, assessment, phonology, the structure of language and how to teach it, morphology, handwriting, reading comprehension, and how to write and implement an OG lesson plan is delivered via lectures, daily reading, homework, discussions, demonstrations, videos, and hands-on practice of multi-sensory procedures and strategies. It includes 15 hours of Applied Practice time putting what I’ve learned into practice with a student. A mentor teacher will demonstrate an entire O-G lesson and help me write and implement seven 45-minute O-G lessons with a Riverside student, providing me with daily observation and feedback. *
Required
I understand that if I want AOGPE Associate Level Certification, I must also complete a 100-hour Associate Level Practicum. Riverside cannot guarantee me this Associate Level Practicum. There are 2-4 practicum spots available per year, and there is an application and interview process for these spots. *
Required
I understand that the 60 hour course is very intensive with regard to time and workload. I understand that I will spend 6 hours a day in class or in Applied Practice, and I will also have reading, homework, and lesson planning every night. *
Required
I understand that my non-refundable registration fee is due when I register. Riverside receives registrations on a first come, first served basis. They will review my registration when they receive it and notify me of my acceptance by email. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged. *
Required
I understand that my payment in full for the class is due on May 6th, 2019. If I have not paid in full by this time, my spot in the class will be offered to individuals on the waiting list. I may contact Eileen Harvey eharvey@riversideschool.org regarding a payment plan if I wish. *
Required
I understand that after June 1, 2018, my full payment will not be refunded unless my vacated spot is filled. However, Riverside acknowledges that circumstances such as family death or illness, moves, or changes in work situations may prevent me from attending the course. They will consider my written request for refunds after June 1 on a case by case basis. They will also accept my request to substitute an alternate participant/colleague or to transfer to the following summer. *
Required
I understand that by registering for this class I agree to the use of my image in any medium and for any purpose that Riverside school deems appropriate, including, but not limited to, publications, marketing, website pictures, or training. If I wish to withdraw my permission, I must do so in writing. *
Required
