As alumni of West Virginia University, we know the value of a robust education, one that promotes critical thinking and a broad, enriching base of knowledge. The administration’s proposed cuts would weaken the university, both in reputation and in its ability to offer students a quality education. We received excellent educations at WVU, and we want current and future students to have the same opportunities.
We support faculty and student calls for President Gordon Gee’s removal and for an immediate freeze to the proposed academic transformation. Until these actions are taken, we are done giving our money and resources to WVU. We will not resume donations until an independent audit of the University’s finances has been completed so that we have an understanding of what led to this budget crisis and where our money is going.
We encourage our fellow WVU alumni to join our pledge: we are #donegiving.
