DotAstronomyTO
Summary: The eleventh .Astronomy will be held in Toronto over October 22-25, 2019. Registration will cost CAD400, and will cover lunches, coffees and a light reception during the meeting.

The 11th edition of .Astronomy ("dot Astronomy") will bring the conference to Canada for the first time! Canada has a rich heritage in astronomy, including the development of Very Long Base Line Interformetry (VLBI), the discovery of Supernova 1987A, and observations of the first known black hole, Cygnus X-1. There is a large community of astronomers in Toronto with interests across both astronomy and software/data issues. This form serves as an application to register to attend the conference. If selected, you will receive a formal invitation to register.

The success of .Astronomy is all about the participants, and to ensure that every event is full of ideas, enthusiasm and innovative spirit, we select participants from a wide range of backgrounds and experience, levels of seniority, world regions, gender identity, ethnicity, and interests. To this end, we invite you to tell us about yourself, why you would like to attend the conference, what you will bring and what you hope to gain. One of the things we value the most, is enthusiasm, so if you're mainly bringing that, great, this is not a skills audition.

There are many ways to contribute to .Astronomy as a participant:
* giving a talk (contributed talks, or lightning talks)
* leading tutorials
* chairing unconference sessions
* leading a hack day project
* participating in lively discussions

This form has space for you to tell us about your ideas for any of the above, or submit an abstract for a talk if you like.

The deadline for submission of this form is July 22nd 2019. If you have any questions, please email dotastro@dunlap.utoronto.ca
