IIHS aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 to promote ‘Quality Education’ amongst nurses in Sri Lanka and the region. Targets for UN SDG 4 specifically underline that “by 2030, (it is vital to) substantially increase the supply of qualified teachers, including through international cooperation for teacher training in developing countries, especially least developed countries and small island developing states”. In order to align with global standards and protocols, in September 2018, IIHS together with OUM will embark on the Phase 2 of “CREATE A GENERATION OF LEADERS” project to empower the Nursing leaders of Sri Lanka through capacity building, develop leadership and stimulate critical thinking within the nursing education system in Sri Lanka.
(i) Develop Sri Lankan nursing standards through strengthening the existing nursing education system through capacity building.(ii) Conduct workshops on nursing education and leadership at the Open University Malaysia targeting nursing principals and tutors from the public sector. (iii) Provide opportunity at a global level to public sector nurses and broaden their learning experiences.(iv) Enhance collaborations between the Sri Lankan and Malaysian education entities.
