Both funds and food help Community Food Share fight hunger.
We appreciate monetary donations, in addition to food. Monetary donations keep our freezers running and our trucks on the road, and they help to provide the resources to distribute food through over 40 partner agencies and direct distribution programs. Monetary donations also allow us to purchase bulk food to be repacked by volunteers. Because we make large, bulk purchases, our cost per pound of food is far lower than that of an individual buying food at retail prices. Remember $1 = 3 meals!
Fund and food drives provide some of the healthiest and highest-quality food that Community Food Share receives. Please ensure that all food collected is non-perishable and usable (no damaged cans, open packages, or expired products). Our "Most Needed Food Items" poster is available for download at www.communityfoodshare.org/fooddrive.
FOOD COLLECTION RESOURCES: Each of our 55 gallon collection barrels holds ~200 pounds of food. If you expect to collect as least 200 pounds, we can provide a collection barrel(s) (based on availability). We will provide boxes for smaller drives, and for transporting food that is collected in barrels. Please plan to pick up the barrel/boxes from our warehouse.
PLANNING & MARKETING RESOURCES: Please download the Fund & Food Drive Planning Guide, marketing posters, talking points, and Community Food Share logo at www.communityfoodshare.org/fooddrive. You are welcome to pick up donation envelopes for collecting cash/checks from our office. Also, consider scheduling a Lunch & Learn at your location! A staff member will talk about hunger in our community, how Community Food Share works, and the impact your group can have through this drive.
