Our Annual Gala is held on the last Friday in April and is a celebration of the SMA Community benefiting tuition assistance and program resources. The evening includes a silent and live auction, games, dinner, and more! It is a fun and festive way to mingle with other families, alumnae, faculty/staff, and friends of the school as they come together to support St. Mary's Academy.

Auction Item Follow-up/Procurement - Every January, we send a donation letter to over 500 businesses soliciting for auction items. We need help with following up with those businesses, either by phone or in person, to secure donations. Alternatively, if you have your own list of businesses that you frequent often, we would love your help in actively procuring donations from these places for our auction. Restaurants, sports, and get-a-ways always generate the most money for their value.

Sponsorship and/or Ticket Sales - our goal for 2021 is to reach 400 attendees and announce a SOLD OUT Gala! in order to do that, we need help selling tables and individual seats. There are several ways you can help with that, including: identifying sponsorship prospects, following up with sponsorship prospects once information has been sent to them, going into the community to get local businesses to sponsor the Gala or place an ad in the program and talking to your friends at SMA and encouraging them to attend - either by purchasing a table or individual seats.

Class Gift Chair: We are currently looking for a class gift chair for 6th and 12th grade. As your grade's class gift chair, you are responsible for coming up with a themed basket and collecting donations from the parents in your child's grade to fit the theme. Each basket will be included in the silent auction at the Gala. We will be hosting a class basket meeting in November to go over timelines and provide a step-by-step guide to ensure the process runs smoothly.

Gala Invitation Mailing - labeling, stuffing, etc on Tuesday, March 9, 2020

Auction Display, Basket Making and Decor Prep - in the weeks leading up to the Gala, members of the Gala committee make display boards for the live auction, silent auction and general signage for the event, as well as put together baskets for class gifts and prep decor as needed.

Day-of Volunteers: As a day-of volunteer, your help with be needed with auction and/or decor set-up. The time commitment is from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and lunch is provided.

Night-of Volunteers: As a night-of volunteer, your help with be needed in the following ways: assisting guests with bidding and encouraging them to bid, assisting in selling beads for the Heads or Tails game, assisting in shuffling guests into the ballroom when the program begins and assisting with auction item reconciliation at the end of the evening. The time commitment is from 5:30 -10:30 p.m. and dinner is provided. This is a great way to attend and see the Gala for free while also helping out.
