Abstract:

Pulsars are exotic remnants of very large stars which have run their course in life. The speaker will introduce the audience to a brief history of the life of stars, leading to the birth of a pulsar in some cases. He will then describe some of their unusual features and the role they have played in our larger understanding of astrophysics.
